About Me
Play-by-Play Broadcaster, Multi-Media Journalist

Hi! My name is Riley Trapp. Thank you for visiting my page! I got my start in broadcasting in my hometown of Barrington, IL. It was there that I broadcasted sporting events for my high school TV club, BHS-TV, and was nominated for several different awards for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Midwest Media Educators Association.
Upon graduation, I attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. While attending the Missouri School of Journalism, I joined the renowned KCOU 88.1 FM radio station, also known as the student voice of the Missouri Tigers. While broadcasting games in the SEC, I was on the call for several AP Top 25 matchups across various sports. I was lucky enough to travel the country and visit historic sports venues such as Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, and the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee, among others.

As a student, I immersed myself in new forms of media. I worked as a producer and reporter for KOMU 8 News in Columbia, the only University-run news station in the country. Furthermore, while enrolled in a drone journalism course, I passed the FAA Part 107-B exam and received my Commercial Drone Pilot License.
Outside of the classroom, I joined the Mizzou Digital Marketing Team and the Iota Mu chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity. I furthered my participation in both organizations by stepping into leadership roles. With the MDMC, I joined the executive board as the Treasurer. I helped secure university funding to send our team to Baylor University twice to compete in the National Collegiate Digital Marketing Championships, among other duties.

My baseball broadcasting career began with the Burlington Bees of the Prospect League, where I served as a Broadcaster and Media Relations Assistant. My broadcast partner, Kyle Schmidt, and I were on the call for over 70 games in the 2023 season. Along with management, we implemented the first radio-broadcasting system for road games since the team was cut from the Midwest League (High A) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I furthered my career when I accepted a role as the Play-by-Play voice of the Martinsville Mustangs of the prestigious Coastal Plain League. In two years, I have been on the call for 95 games, both at home on FloSports and on the road on Mustangs Radio. Following my first year, I was named the CPL's 2024 Broadcaster of the Year, marking the first time the Mustang organization had received that award.
My second year with Martinsville has come to a close, and I graduated from the University of Missouri in May 2025 with a BA in Broadcast Journalism. I am now looking forward to pursuing my lifelong passion for broadcasting baseball at the professional level.
